On November 3, 2021, a heartwarming story aired on Citizen TV caught the attention of President Uhuru Kenyatta, prompting him to extend a helping hand to two stranded school girls.

The two high school students, in form two and four, had been struggling to pay their outstanding school fees, which had left them unable to attend classes.

Thanks to the President's intervention, their school fees arrears were cleared, allowing them to be readmitted to Getembe Mixed Secondary School.

The State House Comptroller, Kinuthia Mbugua, facilitated the payment of their school fees on November 4, 2021, putting a smile on the girls' faces.

The sisters, who are certified class three referees under the Football Federation of Kenya (FKF), have been officiating matches in the lower league in Kisii County, using the little tokens they earn to support their families.

President Uhuru Kenyatta not only cleared their school fees but also promised to establish a program to help them advance to become top-class FIFA referees in the future.

Their passion is to officiate top football matches on the international stage, and the assistance offered by President Uhuru is seen as a stepping stone for the sisters whose families live in abject poverty in the rural areas of Kisii.
