November 5, 2021 – Tottenham Hotspur's new manager Antonio Conte made a winning start to his tenure, guiding the team to a 3-2 victory over Vitesse Arnhem in the Europa Conference League on November 4, 2021.

Conte took charge of the team just two days after his appointment, and his work permit arrived just in time for the match.

Spurs had struggled in their previous match against Manchester United, failing to muster a single shot on target, but they bounced back strongly against Vitesse, scoring two goals within the first 90 seconds.

Son Heung-min opened the scoring with a low angled shot from the right, and Lucas Moura doubled the lead with a clinically converted chance, sliding the ball past the onrushing keeper Markus Schubert.

The reenergized hosts were 3-0 up before the half hour, but Vitesse fought back, with Rasmussen heading past Hugo Lloris and Matus Bero slotting past Lloris to give Conte plenty to talk about at his first half-time prep talk.

Conte made a triple substitution, introducing Harry Winks, Davinson Sanchez, and Tanguy Ndombele for Son, Moura, and Oliver Skipp, and Vitesse had a man sent off when captain Danilho Doekhi felled Kane in the centre circle to earn his second booking.

Conte reflected on the match, saying, “We need to have a bit of patience because we need to work on many aspects – tactically and physically. I’m not afraid about the work. I know only through the work you can reach important targets.”
