On the eve of the Mexican Grand Prix, local hero Sergio Perez has expressed his gratitude for the enthusiastic welcome he has received from fans and the team.
When asked if he would give up an historic home win to help Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen's title bid, Perez ducked the question, saying 'It would be a great problem to have.'
However, he added that most decisions are taken during the race, and he will prioritize his own chances.
A win would make Perez the first Mexican driver to win his home race, and he is confident of having the full support of his team.
Following the cancellation of the race last year, Perez has received an incredible welcome home, with everything sold out and fans calling to get tickets.
Verstappen is locked in an intense battle for the championship with defending seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes, who he leads by 12 points with five races remaining.
