On November 4, 2021, parents of six students at Kipture Secondary School in Kenya protested the school's decision to lock out their children for wearing religious headgear.
The Catholic-sponsored institution had imposed new regulations banning clothes that are not part of the school uniform, affecting three Form Four students, two in Form Two, and one in Form One.
The parents claimed that the decision infringed on their children's right to education and freedom of worship, and they protested at the county education director's offices in Kapsabet.
County Director of Education Zachary Mutuiri later announced that the students had been recalled to resume classes as education stakeholders engaged the school management over the matter.
