On July 5, 2019, Manchester United announced that Brazilian midfielder Andreas Pereira had signed a new 4-year deal, extending his stay at Old Trafford until June 2023.
Pereira, 23, initially joined Manchester United's youth academy seven years ago and later played for PSV before returning to the club. He has also had two season-long loan spells in Spain with Getafe and Valencia, making 35 appearances for Manchester United.
In a statement, Pereira expressed his happiness at continuing his career at Manchester United, saying, “I have spent so long in Manchester that I now regard the city and the club as my home and I’m extremely happy to continue my career here.
He also thanked his family for their trust in him and God for the opportunity he has been given, saying, “The manager has shown great faith in me and I can’t wait to get this campaign started under him.
Manchester United's signing of Pereira comes after the departure of former midfielder Ander Herrera, who joined Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent.
