On November 11, 2021, Brookside Dairy Company issued a clarification on a widely shared poster claiming to have numerous job vacancies, including clerical officers, drivers, cooks, and field officers.

The company confirmed that the poster was fake and did not originate from them, urging the public to disregard and share the information widely.

"We wish to inform the public that this job recruitment notice is fake and did not originate from Brookside Dairy. Kindly disregard and share this widely," reads an excerpt of the notice.

This comes just hours after the Ministry of Interior debunked a fake Gazette notice that had been making rounds on the internet, alleging that Thursday was a public holiday to mark Diwali Celebrations.

The Ministry of Interior has since denied declaring it a public holiday, stating, "The Government has not declared a public holiday on Thursday, November 4, 2021. The purported gazette notice declaring a holiday is fake!"

Brookside's clarification serves as a reminder to Kenyans to be vigilant on social media to avoid being duped into believing and sharing fake news, which can attract heavy penalties under the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, 2018.
