On November 3, 2021, Nelson Havi, President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), launched a scathing attack on his colleagues in the legal profession who attended Alliance High School.

According to Havi, these lawyers and judges are known for flaunting their alma mater, often mentioning it in court proceedings.

He also targeted lawyers and judges who attended Alliance Girls' High School, referring to both schools as 'village schools'.

Senior Counsel James Orengo, a prominent Alliance alumnus, has been nicknamed the 'walking constitution.'

"There are always two troublesome characters in court, on the bench and the bar: 'I went to The Alliance' noise makers," Havi stated.

He added, "... and 'I am a friend of the court, aka Amicus curiae'".

Notably, Havi has also been known to boast about his own academic achievements, including scoring an 'A' minus at Musingu High School despite being admitted with low marks.

Some of the notable alumni of Alliance include James Orengo, Lady Justice Effie Owuor, Justice Partrick Kiage, and Havi's own daughter, Christabel Mideva.
