On October 28, 2021, Lawyer Prof Hassan Nandwa reported at Central Police Station the abduction of his client, Elgiva Bwire, at around 4:30 pm. Later that night, nine armed men who identified themselves as police officers stormed Bwire's residence, claiming they were looking for the client.
Lawyer Prof Hassan Nandwa, a member of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), went missing on October 28 while on his way from his office to his residence in Nairobi. His whereabouts remain unknown.
LSK has filed a petition in court seeking an order to compel the government to produce Prof Nandwa and his client, dead or alive, within 24 hours of the issuance of the order.
Additionally, LSK is seeking an order to compel Safaricom to provide Prof Nandwa's mobile phone call records and BTS (Base Transmitting Station) records and logs of his client from 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 28, 2021, to November 2, 2021, midnight.
“An order be issued compelling Safaricom Limited to supply the 1st Petitioner and produce before this Hon. Court the phone call records and BTS (Base Transmitting Station) records and logs of 2nd Petitioner, advocate from 9:00 a.m. on Thursday 28th October 2021 to 2nd November, 2021 midnight pending the hearing and determination of this Petition “, pleads LSK.
