Unai Emery, a 50-year-old Spanish coach, has made a triumphant return to the UEFA Champions League, leading Villarreal to a 2-0 win over Young Boys on Tuesday.

Emery, who has also managed Paris Saint-Germain, Sevilla, and Arsenal, was reportedly in the running to become the new coach of Newcastle United, which is owned by Saudi Arabian investors.

However, Emery has chosen to remain at Villarreal, where he has led the team to seven points in the group stage, matching the tally of Manchester United, the current Europa League champions.

Emery's Villarreal team has a strong record in the UEFA Champions League, having reached the final in 2021 and winning the Europa League in 2021.

On Tuesday, Villarreal took the lead through Etienne Capoue, before Arnaut Danjuma sealed the win with a goal in the second half.

Emery's decision to stay at Villarreal has been seen as a significant boost to the team's chances in the UEFA Champions League.
