On November 3, 2021, comedian Eric Omondi responded to allegations of being a deadbeat father, sparking a heated debate over child support in Kenya.

According to Omondi, he had a sexual relationship with journalist Jacque Maribe, but he is highly doubtful that the child is his biologically. He claims that they used protection, and Maribe has refused his request for a DNA test.

Actress Christine Wawira weighed in on the matter, stating that Maribe should grant a DNA test before demanding child support. 'You have every right to request a DNA test and she should comply if she wants you to support the child,' she said.

However, not everyone agrees with Omondi's decision to go public with his doubts. Boniface Mwangi, a social activist, criticized Omondi for shaming both Maribe and the child. 'This isn't cool @ericomondi. You have shamed your Baby Mama and your son,' he wrote.
