President Uhuru Kenyatta met with the leadership team of the Kenya-UK Health Alliance (KUKHA) on November 2, 2021, at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland.
The alliance briefed the President on the implementation of their strategic partnership, including the Jomo Kenyatta Scholarship programme and the construction of a state-of-the-art training centre at Kisii University.
The Jomo Kenyatta Scholarship programme aims to provide specialized medical training and capacity enhancement for Kenyan healthcare providers in the UK.
The programme also includes the exchange of postgraduate medical students between Kenya and the UK to enhance research capabilities and healthcare service delivery.
Key among KUKHA's programmes in Kenya is the establishment of an oncology centre of excellence at the Kenyatta University Teaching Research and Referral Hospital (KUTTRH), which includes a world-class imaging facility unveiled by President Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.
President Kenyatta assured the KUKHA team of the government's commitment to ensuring the partnership's success and thanked the alliance for their progress.
