On November 2, 2021, Lipa Later announced a strategic partnership with Carrefour, one of Kenya's largest retailers, to roll out the LipaVismart product powered by Lipa Later in all Carrefour stores countrywide.
The partnership offers customers an instalment plan or monthly payment plan for all items within Carrefour, including electronics, gadgets, appliances, furniture, perishables, and consumer items.
With LipaVismart, customers can purchase items and pay back in monthly instalments, with a credit limit of up to Ksh.500,000.
According to Claudine Gakundi, Country Manager at Lipa Later, customers will receive part of the amount they paid back towards their credit limit once they start making monthly payments.
Once a customer signs up online or at any outlet, they receive an instant approval with their available credit limit, which they can use at any of the Carrefour outlets.
The customer will have up to 30 days to make their first payment, but are able to take the item home immediately.
Eric Muli, CEO at Lipa Later, noted that LipaVismart offers the lowest interest rates in town, at 2.3% per month, with no other fees charged.
Customers have the option of choosing the duration they would like to make their affordable monthly repayments, ranging from 3 to 12 months.
On his part, Franck Moreau, Country Manager- Carrefour East Africa, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating that it will help customers get the products they need while paying in monthly instalments.
