On November 1, 2021, FIFA announced that over 50 nations had been punished for bad behaviour in recent international matches.

Among the nations punished was Hungary, which was hit with two home matches behind closed doors, one suspended, an away match without travelling supporters, and fines totalling 281,000 Swiss francs (Sh34.3mn) for racism by supporters and breaches of security including smoke bombs and blocked staircases in matches against England and Andorra.

Other nations, including Albania, Mexico, and Panama, were also forced to play home matches behind closed doors, while Polish fans were banned from one away game.

Argentina, Chile, El Salvador, Honduras, Montenegro, and Peru were all ordered to play games with a limited number of spectators, while Argentina also received a warning and a fine of 30,000 Swiss francs for the late start of their match against Bolivia and discriminatory behaviour by fans during Uruguay's visit.

Andorra was among seven teams fined for amassing yellow cards after collecting six against England, while France was fined 2,000 Swiss-francs (Sh245,000) for not wearing masks during the 1-1 home draw with Bosnia-Herzegovina in Strasbourg.

Other punishments included fines for Kazakhstan for displaying a banner for Second World War soldiers from the Soviet Union who fought for the Nazis, and for Moldova for a drone interrupting the national anthems before the match against Austria.
