November 1, 2021 - Nation Media Group has made significant staff changes in its newspaper section in an attempt to retain top talent and address key areas. The media house has experienced a series of exits of senior journalists, particularly from the Business Daily.

According to an internal memo by Editorial Director Mutuma Mathiu, the changes aim to 're-invigorate print products, support digital transformation and fill existing vacancies.'

Paul Wafula, the current Daily Nation Business Editor, will return to Business Daily to take up the role of News Editor, Business Daily. This move is seen as a strategic attempt to address the newspaper's recent losses.

Meanwhile, Allan Odhiambo has been transferred from Business Daily to the Daily Nation to become Business Editor, further straining the Business Daily. Allan Olingo, the Regional Editor – Mombasa, has been promoted to News Editor at The East African.

Other changes include the transfer of Kennedy Kimanthi, the Regional Editor – Nyeri, to Mombasa in the same capacity, and the elevation of Jane Njoroge, a Sub Editor at the Daily Nation, to Senior Sub Editor, Health & Science.
