Mediamax Secures Licence to Launch Luo Language FM Station

On July 2, Mediamax Network Ltd secured a licence to launch a Luo language FM station, Osiepe FM, which will broadcast on 96.8 FM in Siaya and Homabay counties.

The move comes as part of Mediamax's expansion plans, which include launching a Turkana language station.

Mediamax, which owns K24 TV and The People Daily newspaper, boasts of a diverse portfolio of radio stations, including Kameme FM, Milele FM, Mayian FM, and Meru FM.

According to reports, Mediamax applied for the licence on May 8, and the company has 12 months to operationalise the station.

Mediamax is majority owned by the Kenyatta family and Deputy President William Ruto, and the licence comes as President Uhuru Kenyatta seeks to cement his “handshake” agreement with Opposition leader Raila Odinga.
