On November 1, 2021, Rachel Shebesh, the Youth and Gender Chief Administrative Secretary, celebrated a traditional wedding with her husband, Frank Shebesh, at her parent's home in Githunguri, Kiambu County.

The event, known as 'Ngurario' in the Agikuyu culture, marked the completion of her dowry payments according to Kikuyu customs. In this custom, the husband completes the dowry payments to the wife's family, and the couple is then ready to accept their daughter's dowry.

Shebesh was accompanied by her friends from other ministries and politicians, including Health CAS Mercy Mwangagi, Ministry of Agriculture CAS Anne Nyaga, and Nominated Senator Isaac Ngugi.

Speaking at the event, Shebesh said, 'I have been married for 24 years, I have children and grandchildren, and I am 100 per cent married in the Abaluhya community, but my husband appreciates my background and appreciates my family, that is why we are holding this event.'

The couple has been together for more than two decades and has three kids. Shebesh, who comes from a well-known family, has been with Frank since her college days where she got pregnant.

Shebesh confessed in an interview with Churchill that her hubby doesn't like the attention she attracts but has always supported her.

The event was attended by several guests, including Peter Muchiri Mwangi, who tweeted, 'On Saturday I joined other guests as we attended Hon Rachel Shebesh and her husband Frank Shebesh colourful ceremony traditional ceremony to mark the completion of dowry payments to her parents.
