Comedian Kelvin Mwangi, known for his Shaniqwa act, was living the high life in Kenya's comedy industry. He had a top show at the Standard Media Group's KTN and money was rolling in.

However, his world came crashing down when he was fired as the Life and Style co-host, a weekly show that aired on KTN on Fridays. Losing his job meant that he had to readjust and reconfigure his budget, something that did not sit well with his wife.

According to Kelvin, his wife was too used to the good life that Shaniqwa was providing and was not ready to settle for the broke life that Kelvin was about to set her up for. In an interview with the Jeff Kuria Show, Kelvin revealed that he was struggling to make ends meet, unable to pay rent and provide basic needs for his family.

As the situation worsened, house agents came knocking and began to sell off his house items, including his fridge, television, blenders, and other electronics. Kelvin's wife started cheating on him, and he would receive pictures of her in compromising situations from their friends.

Things took a turn for the worse when Kelvin's wife left him, taking Sh. 8,000 from her M-Pesa account. Kelvin fell into depression and started drinking, but with the help of friends, he slowly began to rebuild his life.

Radio presenter Jalang'o and comedian Henry Desagu came to Kelvin's aid, with Jalang'o even paying rent for Kelvin for up to nine months. Kelvin started doing comedy skits with Desagu and uploading content on YouTube, and eventually, his wife asked to reconcile. However, two days after reconciling, she walked out again, leaving Kelvin to raise their child alone.
