Junior golfer Cherono Kipkorir has solidified her position as a force to be reckoned with in the golfing world, after emerging as the overall winner of the ongoing NCBA Golf Series at the Royal Nairobi Golf Club, over the weekend.

With a stellar performance, Kipkorir carded an impressive 42 points to outshine her competitors and claim the top spot in the junior category.

Her victory marks the third time a junior golfer has taken the top prize in the Series, following in the footsteps of Nathan Mwangi and Mumbi Gatu, who won the Karen Country Club and Limuru legs respectively.

Meanwhile, in the men's category, Mwambu Malamba carded a round of 42 points to claim the winner's spot, finishing ahead of Calvin Opati, who impressed with a round of 40 points.

On the ladies' side, Kathure Njoroge carded 41 points to take the top spot, while Pascalia Koske finished with 39 points.

Paul Jakaa shot 35 points to win the Staff prize, while Brian Githaiga took home the juniors' category with 34 points.

Notably, the tournament recorded a hole-in-one as handicap 16 Oscar Koitaba aced his shot at the 13th hole, a rare feat in the world of golf.

With the Royal Nairobi Golf Club leg being the 19th event in the Series, action now shifts to Muthaiga Golf Club for the 20th leg of the Series on Saturday.

Elsewhere, 80-year-old General (Retired) Joseph Musomba proved that age is just a number, as he beat a team of 100 golfers in the 2021 Machakos School Golf day tournament, on Saturday.

Musomba, playing off handicap 13, carded 35 points to triumph in the day-long Charity Golf event for Alumni projects.
