October 31, 2021, marked the release of the highly anticipated Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro devices, which have been met with overwhelming enthusiasm from consumers. However, the launch has not been without its challenges, as several users have reported experiencing flickering issues with their devices.

The flickering problem, which affects the Pixel 6 Pro, occurs when the power button is pressed while the device is turned off. This issue has been reported by multiple users, including one of AndroidPolice 's review units, which also exhibited the same problem.

While it is unclear whether the issue is exclusive to the Pixel 6 Pro or also affects the Pixel 6, most users in enthusiast phone subreddits are likely to have purchased the higher-end model. The reports do not mention any impact on other device functionality, but it is possible that there may be long-term effects that have not yet been encountered.

Google has not responded to the issue, leaving users to speculate about the cause. Some have suggested that the problem may be related to the device's fast boot-up feature, which takes less than 15 seconds. Others have proposed that the issue may be due to a bad batch of displays.

It is worth noting that the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are not the first Google Pixel devices to experience issues during their release phase. The Pixel 5, for example, had display issues where gaps existed between the phone's display and its frame. The Pixel 4, on the other hand, discharged its battery quickly while shutting down randomly, and the Pixel 3 could brick itself by getting stuck in the EDL mode.
