On October 31, 2021, a dramatic chase unfolded in Nairobi's Industrial area, leaving a police officer injured and a suspect in custody.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Detective Luke Juma was pursuing Philip Munyasia, a 35-year-old suspect who had been on the run for days.

Munyasia had fled after an altercation that left a victim in critical condition, prompting a 400-meter chase along Lunga Lunga road.

During the pursuit, Juma accidentally discharged his firearm, shooting himself in the left leg just above the knee.

Despite his injury, Juma managed to restrain the suspect until Corporal Abdilatif Ahmed arrived to take Munyasia into custody.

The suspect is currently in police custody, while Juma is recuperating at a Nairobi hospital.
