Published on July 5, 2019, a mandatory 1.5% housing levy imposed by the government left many destitute Kenyans in a helpless state. The Consumers Federation of Kenya (Cofek) took the matter to court, arguing that the levy would further burden already overburdened taxpayers.

Henry Kurauka, a High Court advocate, led the team that petitioned the Employment and Labor Relations Court to bar the government from implementing the levy. The court granted their prayers, bringing relief to the public.

Henry's impressive track record in public interest litigation includes challenging the government's interest rates capping law. In March, he moved to court on behalf of Cofek, appealing against the High Court ruling that declared the law unconstitutional.

As a director and chairman of the credit committee at LSK Sacco Ltd, Henry has developed a credit policy that has benefited many. He has also taught at various universities for over three years and holds a PhD from the University of Nairobi.

Regarded as one of the best brains from Meru County, Henry has been involved in several high-profile cases, including representing Starehe MP Charles Njagua and Businessman Paul Kobia. He has also represented the Kenya Methodist Church in a Supreme Court appeal.

Henry's dedication to public interest litigation has earned him a reputation as a highly demanded lawyer in town. His ability to navigate complex cases and secure favorable outcomes has made him a go-to lawyer for prominent Kenyans in trouble.
