Understanding Windows 11 Sleep Mode ¶
Windows 11 PCs, by default, enter a low-power mode, known as sleep mode, after a certain amount of time. This mode temporarily turns off certain parts of the hardware to save power, and the screen will turn off while the PC is asleep.
Adjusting Sleep Delay in Settings ¶
To change the sleep delay, follow these steps:
- Press Windows+i on your keyboard to open Settings or right-click the Start button and choose 'Settings' from the menu.
- In Settings, select 'System' from the sidebar and then 'Power & Battery.'
- Click on the 'Screen and Sleep' section to open it and display the available options.
- Choose a time from the drop-down menu labeled 'When plugged in, put my device to sleep after.' Select 'Never' if you never want your computer to sleep.
Additionally, you can set a time delay for when your screen will turn off independently of going to sleep by using the 'turn my screen off after' options.
After making the necessary changes, exit Settings, and your modifications will be saved. Your PC will either turn off its screen or go to sleep after the specified time.
