On October 28, 2021, Ostatech Limited, an IT firm based in Nairobi, Kenya, signed a significant partnership with IEC Telecom Group, a global satellite telecommunications provider.
The partnership aims to provide businesses in Kenya and East Africa with a wide range of satellite telecommunications solutions, ensuring continuity of operations for election infrastructure and supporting military missions.
According to Oscar Mwai, Chief Executive Officer of Ostatech Limited, the partnership is designed to unlock Africa's digital transformation by providing a portfolio of satellite telecommunications solutions that cater to the needs of various sectors, including government services and military operations.
"Our specialized teams offer customization, technical support, and 24/7 consultancy to empower government services across the whole spectrum of operations they handle on a day-to-day basis," Mwai emphasized.
Alaa Alsadi, Business Development Director – Middle East and Africa at IEC Telecom Group, highlighted the benefits of satellite connectivity, including enabling educators to teach via videoconferencing and providing children in isolated communities with access to learning materials.
"Satellite connectivity allows remote offices or workers to access employment opportunities and continue operations no matter where they're located," Alsadi added.
Olufunso Somorin, Regional Principal Officer at the African Development Bank, commended the partnership, stating that it creates economic opportunities and incentives for entrepreneurship in Kenya and Africa.
