On October 24, a disturbing scene unfolded in a residential estate within Kangemi area in Westlands, Nairobi. A man, identified as Caleb Chimwani, tried to intervene when he saw his neighbour beating his wife while two other men watched.

However, when Caleb tried to stop the assault, he was roughed up by the men. One of them even alerted more people who were having a meeting, and they joined in attacking Caleb, leaving him with injuries to the ribs and the head.

Fortunately, an eyewitness alerted the police, who arrived at the scene and arrested four of the accused persons: Brian Kennedy Otieno, Kelvin Ramis, James Wakalaga, and Frank Mwalia. They were charged at the Kibera Law courts.

According to the court, the accused persons, along with others not before the court, assaulted Caleb, causing him injuries on October 24. They denied the charges and were released on a bond of Sh10,000 each and an alternative cash bail of Sh30,000. The case was set for mention on November 8.
