On October 28, 2021, Atlético de Madrid, the defending La Liga champion, traveled to the Ciudad de Valencia to face Levante, which was struggling at the bottom of the table with just 5 points from 10 matches. The match was a crucial one for Atlético de Madrid, as a win would have put them level with Real Madrid and Sevilla at the top of the table.

Atlético de Madrid started strongly, with Antoine Griezmann scoring the opening goal in the 12th minute with a header from a corner. However, the visitors failed to build on this lead and were punished for their lack of attacking intent when Levante equalized through a penalty kick by Bardhi in the 37th minute.

Levante continued to press and were rewarded with a second goal in the 90th minute, when Bardhi scored from the penalty spot again after Atlético de Madrid's Lodi was penalized for a fault in his own area. The draw left Atlético de Madrid in sixth place, while Levante remained at the bottom of the table.
