US President Joe Biden arrived at the US Capitol in Washington, DC, on October 28, 2021, to unveil a revised $1.75 trillion social spending plan, a move that is expected to secure a major legislative victory for Democrats.

The plan, which is a compromise between Biden's original $3.5 trillion proposal and the demands of moderate Democrats, includes investments in education, childcare, clean energy, and other social services.

According to the White House, the plan would pour $1.75 trillion into these areas, a significant reduction from the original proposal but still a major win for Biden's administration.

The plan has been months in the making, with Biden facing opposition from moderate Democrats in the Senate and left-leaning Democrats in the House.

However, with the plan now in place, Biden is confident that Democrats will support it, and he is expected to deliver an address to the American people from the White House before heading to the airport to board Air Force One.

Key progressive priorities, including 12 weeks of paid family leave, free community college, and reform on America's sky-high prescription drug prices, were left out of the framework.

Despite this, Biden's visit to Congress has been seen as a major step forward in securing a legislative victory for Democrats.
