On October 28, 2021, a tragic incident shook the community in Siaya, as a 25-year-old posho mill attendant took his own life.

The deceased, George Owich Ochieng, from Ulamba sub-location in West Gem ward, had lost Ksh1000 meant for diesel on his way to the posho mill.

According to Assistant Chief Pauline Apondi Okumu, the body was discovered hanging inside the father's house, which was locked from the inside.

"It is true we found him hanging on the roof and the door closed from inside," the assistant chief confirmed, adding that the deceased had called his father to inform him of the loss before his body was found lifeless.

Pauline further stated that upon realizing the loss, the deceased called his boss to inform him, but instead of returning to the posho mill, he rode his motorbike to his father's house, where he allegedly took his life.

The body has been taken to Rabuor mortuary.
