As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect households' income, the Nyeri Water and Sewerage Company has taken a compassionate approach to debt recovery.
On October 27, 2021, the company's Board Chairman, Patrick Munuhe, announced that the company would no longer disconnect domestic water consumers due to unpaid bills.
Instead, the company will adopt a relationship management approach to negotiate with clients on how best to settle their bills.
According to Munuhe, the company will waive arrears accrued by customers to the tune of Sh100 million, which was negotiated with the county government, the owners of the company.
