Published on October 27, 2021, a new mega project, Legacy Ridges, is set to provide over 4,000 affordable housing units in Kiambu's Ruiru town.

The project, launched by real estate companies Finsco Africa and Heri homes, aims at settling a diverse demographic of people from young families to those looking to buy a retirement home.

Legacy Ridges CEO John Mwaura stated that the government had created an enabling environment for affordable housing to be realized by building roads, fast-tracking issuance of title deeds, and giving rebates on value-added tax and relief on affordable housing for developers.

The project, which sits on a 200-acre land parcel located 20 kilometres from the city centre, will comprise 4,533 units of apartments of two bedrooms and three bedrooms, maisonettes, and bungalows.

Commercial plots for sale, a proposed petrol station, a supermarket, a hospital, and a resort will also be available on the 200-acre parcel.

Chairman Kimotho Kimani noted that the company plans to roll out these units every six months but it could be sooner if the demand spikes.

For low-income earners, the company has MOUs with some saving institutions, allowing them to give loans to service for up to 25 years, with the monthly installment equal or less than their current house rent.
