On October 27, 2021, a class seven boy from Mandera's Kamor Primary School narrowly avoided being killed by a whiskey after his two brothers set him ablaze in their home.

The 14-year-old boy was identified as a witness in a case in which one of his brothers was suspected of stealing a mobile phone, according to a statement issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

The boy's brothers, Ibrahim Ahmed and Yusuf Ahmed, lured him to their house, rolled him up in a mattress doused in petrol, and set him on fire.

Police officers saw a fire coming from the house and rushed to the scene, rescuing the boy and rushing him to Mandera County Referral Hospital, where he was admitted in serious condition.

As the boy recovers, detectives have launched a manhunt for the two brothers.

“As we pray for his speedy recovery, detectives are hot in pursuit of the two brothers,” DCI posted.
