On Monday night, a horrific incident occurred in Mandera County, where a 14-year-old class seven pupil was allegedly set ablaze by his two brothers.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the boy was a witness in a case where his brother Ibrahim Ahmed was a suspect.

As reported by DCI, the brothers lured the minor to their house, rolled him up in a mattress doused in petrol, and set him on fire.

Police say the duo immediately went into hiding after setting the minor ablaze, leaving him for dead.

However, the smoke emanating from the house attracted police officers, who rushed to the scene and managed to rescue the boy.

The detectives rushed the boy to Mandera County Referral Hospital, where he sustained fatal injuries.

Despite the severity of his injuries, the boy is reportedly recuperating, while the two suspects, the victim's brothers, remain at large.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident, and detectives are working to apprehend the suspects.
