On October 25, 2021, a tragic incident occurred in Konyunyo Village, Homa Bay County, where a 45-year-old farm manager, Boniface Orwa, was killed by an irate mob in a land dispute.

According to reports, Orwa was employed as a manager at a farm in the area, which had been bought by his employer. However, he had been engaged in protracted squabbles with the people whose land surrounded the farm, leading to the tragic incident.

Michael Kiage, a resident, condemned the neighbours for taking matters into their own hands, saying, "I want to urge people who buy land to have good relations with the locals."

The area chief, Elisha Wadanda, confirmed the incident and warned residents against infringing the law, stating, "It is wrong to kill someone. Let residents pursue legal procedures when such an incident occurs."

The deceased's body was moved to Rachuonyo South Sub-county Hospital mortuary for further investigation.
