On October 26, 2021, Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria announced that he had taken action following an accident that left him hospitalized.

Speaking during a meeting between the company's management and the National Assembly Committee on Health, the MP revealed that he had contacted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to probe Ceragem Limited, the company behind the electric mat that burnt his legs.

According to Kuria, the company must take responsibility for the incident, and he would personally sue them for taking the issue lightly.

The company's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Vincent Omallah, insisted that their products have been approved by the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) and were safe to use.

However, the committee chairperson, Sabina Chege, expressed concerns that the company was taking advantage of desperate Kenyans and appealed to those who had used the products to come forward.

Ceragem has been operating in the country for 14 years, with branches in several locations.
