On October 24, students at Dr. Krapf Memorial Secondary School in Rabai, Kilifi County, went on a rampage after being denied the opportunity to watch the Manchester United-Liverpool game.

The students, who normally have supper between 6:30 and 7:30 pm, were ordered to go back to class instead, sparking their outrage.

As a result, they vandalized the school's property and attempted to set their dormitories ablaze, but were saved before they could become ashes.

“Fourteen (14) students have been linked to the chaos, and are being held in custody at the Rabai Police Station,” a close source of the Standard media reported.

Following the incident, the school was closed for a week, with Form One and Form Four students scheduled to report on November 2, while Form Two and Form Three learners were expected back a day later.

Confirming the news, Rabai Sub-County Police Commander Fred Abuga said the dorms were set ablaze but saved before becoming ashes.

“The dormitory that they set alight did not burn completely,” he said.

As a result of the chaos, all learners will be accepted back with complete Term Two fees, the school’s management said.
