On Tuesday morning, Kirinyaga County Governor Anne Waiguru made a significant political move by ditching Jubilee Party for Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in an event held in Karen.

According to sources, Waiguru's decision was influenced by the shifting political landscape in Mt Kenya, where she is seeking to maintain her influence.

Waiguru will now defend her gubernatorial seat in 2022 on the UDA party ticket, a move that is expected to shape the political dynamics in the region.

As she joins UDA, Waiguru is likely to face stiff competition from other prominent candidates, including Kirinyaga County Woman Representative Purity Ngirici and Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua.

Waiguru's decision to switch parties comes after she had signalled her exit from Jubilee Party and entry into Ruto's party last month.
