October 26, 2021, marked a significant turning point in Sudan's history as the military overthrew the transitional government, led by Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok.

According to reports, Hamdok was arrested by the military after refusing to 'cooperate' with them. This move was followed by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, the chairman of the Sovereignty Council, announcing the dissolution of the transitional government and declaring a state of emergency across the country.

General al-Burhan also announced the dissolution of the cabinet and the postponement of the upcoming elections, scheduled for July 2023. The move has sparked widespread protests and calls for the military to hand over power to civilians.

The Sudanese military has been at odds with the civilian population over the distribution of power since the ousting of Omar al-Bashir in April 2019. The transitional government, led by Hamdok, has been struggling to maintain stability and address the country's economic and security challenges.

As the situation in Sudan continues to unfold, the international community is closely monitoring the developments and calling for a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
