Published on October 25, 2021, Nairobi was crowned Africa's Leading Business Travel Destination at the World Travel Awards, outshining Accra, Cairo, Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg, Lagos, and Pretoria.
The city's Kenyatta International Convention Centre also bagged the 'Africa's Leading Meetings & Conference Centre' title, solidifying Nairobi's position as a top destination for business travel and events.
Other notable winners included Cape Town, which took home the award for Africa's Leading City Destination, defeating several other major cities in the process.
Kenya Airways was named Africa's Leading Airline 2021 and Africa's Leading Airline in the Business Class category, while Cape Town International Airport was named Africa's Leading Airport.
World Travel Awards founder Graham Cooke congratulated the winners, saying, 'Our winners represent the very best of travel and hospitality in Africa and the Indian Ocean, and my congratulations to each of them. They are all playing starring roles in spearheading the travel and tourism recovery.'
