Published on October 25, 2021, a shooting incident in Nanyuki, Laikipia County, has landed Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip in police custody.

According to Laikipia East Sub-County Commander John Tarus, the incident involved four people, including Loitiptip, the victim, Joy Makena, another woman, and a man.

The cause of the disagreement remains unclear, but it is alleged that Loitiptip fired at Makena, injuring her in the leg.

Loitiptip went into hiding after the incident but surrendered to police on Sunday afternoon, where he was questioned for hours before being locked in the cells.

He will be presented in court tomorrow, facing charges ranging from misuse of his firearm to causing bodily harm.

This is the second time in less than a week that Loitiptip has been in the spotlight, following an alleged assault incident on October 19, where his rival in the Lamu senatorial race, Francis Mugo, accused him of attacking him and attempting to dip him into the Indian Ocean.
