On October 25, 2021, the Celo Foundation, a nonprofit supporting the development of the Celo open blockchain platform, announced a significant milestone in its mission to empower anyone with a smartphone to access digital assets.

The foundation has allocated $9.35 million in funding to 50 projects that represent different sectors, including blockchain infrastructure, dApps, DeFi, developer tooling, ecosystem support, education and community, and Universal Basic Income (UBI).
