Kenyan Police Officers Excel in International Shooting Championship

On October 23, 2021, a team of 15 Kenyan officers from the Police and the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) emerged as runners-up in the 84th South African Bisley Championships held in South Africa.

According to a statement released by the DCI on October 24, 2021, the team clinched silver medals in the competition, which brought together shooters from across the world.

The DCI further revealed that three of their officers, Detectives Alfred Njoka, Philip Kipchumba, and Elphas Ngetich, made it to the finals, with the latter being recognized for his expertise and awarded a prestigious medal.

Other players included Corporal Priscillah Wangui, a musketry specialist from the National Police College Main Campus in Kiganjo, who is a recipient of the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW).

Various security agencies and Kenyans joined in to congratulate the officers for their exemplary performance and for putting Kenya on the global map.

The National Police Service (NPS) tweeted, "Congratulations to team Kenya. We are proud of you."

Kenyan officers have continuously made a name for themselves in global shooting competitions, with their recent achievement being a testament to their skills.

On September 4, officers from the elite Recce squad and the Anti-Terror Police Unit (ATPU) won an international competition held in the Kirigiti shooting range in Kenya.
