On October 20, 2021, President Uhuru Kenyatta announced the revision of COVID-19 protocols, including the lifting of the 10 pm-4 am curfew.
Following this announcement, the Ministry of Sports issued a directive allowing spectators back into stadiums after a one-year, seven-month ban.
According to the directive, event organizers are expected to utilize up to 2/3rds capacity of the stadiums.
“Following the H.E the President’s announcement on revising the Covid-19 protocols and subsequent discussions between the Cabinet Secretary for Sports Amina Mohamed and the CS for Health Hon Mutahi Kagwe, spectators will now be allowed into stadiums. Event organizers are expected to ensure they utilise up to 2/3rds capacity of the stadia,”
the Ministry of Sports stated.
Event organizers must provide prior written approvals for the number of spectators allowable for the event, and demonstrate their capacity to secure and manage spectators and property during events.
