Mombasa Golfer Balala on Verge of Kenya Amateur Strokeplay Title

Published on October 24, 2021, Mombasa-based golfer Ade Balala is on the cusp of claiming the Kenya Amateur Strokeplay Championships title, with the final round set to take place at Nakuru Golf Club.

After completing 54 holes over three days, Balala has accumulated a total gross of 213, having played four under gross in the first round and one under gross in the second and third rounds for a total of six under gross.

With 18 holes remaining, Balala is poised to win the overall title and secure a spot in the Kenya Open Golf Championships next year.

Michael Karanga from Kiambu is Balala's closest rival, with a total gross of 216, while John Lejirma of Railways trails closely with 217 gross.

Limuru's Paul Muchangi and Uganda's Joseph Cwinyaa-I round out the top five, with a total gross of 220 each.

The tournament has attracted a total of 96 players from Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Dubai, and the United States.

Nakuru Golf Club captain Luther Kamau, who plays off the scratch, has been placed 13th with a total gross of 226.
