Gor Mahia's Caf Confederation Cup match against Al-Ahly Merowe is in doubt after the Sudanese side failed to show up or communicate on Saturday, October 23, 2021.
The return leg, scheduled to be played on Sunday at Nyayo Stadium, hangs in the balance as the Sudanese side had not arrived in the country by Saturday evening.
Gor Mahia's Sporting Director, Lordvick Aduda, stated that the team will proceed with their preparations until 4pm on Sunday before knowing the fate of the match.
“Until Merowe fails to appear for kick off at 4pm, that's when we will know the game is not taking place. For your information, the match officials arrived and even trained yesterday in the morning. Our team had a feel of the pitch and we are gearing towards the game,” Aduda told Standard Sports.
Despite the uncertainty, Gor Mahia is prepared to play the match, citing their comfortable advantage from the first leg, where they beat Al-Ahly Merowe 3-1 at the New Suez Stadium in Egypt one week ago.
