Kenya Airways has strengthened its presence in the European market with a code-share agreement signed with British Airways.

Under the partnership, passengers flying from Kenya to the UK can now connect to 26 cities in the UK and Europe, boosting business travel and tourism between African destinations and Europe.

"The code-share agreement with British Airways to provide our travellers with a seamless journey...is very strategic," said KQ Chief Commercial Officer Julius Thairu, highlighting the deal's potential to increase choices for thousands of passengers.

British Airways Head of Alliances Christopher Fordyce added that the new deal will make "that bucket list trip even easier to plan" for customers.

As part of the agreement, Kenya Airways will place its flight code on British Airways' services from London to various destinations, including Manchester, Barcelona, and Munich.

Similarly, British Airways' customers will connect seamlessly to African destinations such as Mombasa, Zanzibar, and Lusaka.

Kenya Airways has also increased its flights on the UK route, adding four flights weekly up from two this month after Kenya was removed from England's Covid-19 red list.

British Airways resumed flights on the London-Nairobi route last month.
