On October 22, 2021, a dramatic chase unfolded in Nairobi, pitting police officers against occupants of a suspicious vehicle. The incident began with a call from a concerned neighbor, who alerted administration police officers stationed at the AP driving school in Ruai about a suspicious vehicle in the area.

The officers approached the vehicle cautiously, but the occupants quickly jumped in and sped off, leaving behind a cloud of dust. The police gave chase, following the vehicle in a high-speed pursuit along Kangudo road.

Corporal Opiyo Asha was behind the wheel of the police van, with Corporal John Okunga on the co-driver's seat. They pursued the speeding truck at breakneck speed, but the suspects showed no signs of stopping after a five-kilometer chase.

However, the police officers were not to be outwitted. They deflated two of the truck's tires in two precise shots, bringing the chase to an abrupt end. The four naked occupants, two men and two women, jumped out of the truck and surrendered.

“Sisi sio wezi,” pleaded one of the ladies, meaning “We are not thieves.” The officers were left stunned, having initially suspected the group to be armed robbers.

The suspects, Vianney Kibet, Silvia Kasiva, Esther Karingari, and Denzel Njiru, were escorted to Ruai police station, where their safety and security were guaranteed for the night. Their vehicle was also towed to the station.
