Published on October 22, 2021, Esther Wahome, a renowned gospel musician and preacher, has opened up about the qualities she seeks in a son-in-law for her daughter.
As her daughter nears the end of her university education and may soon become a mother herself, Esther has expressed her desire for her daughter to marry a man who embodies genuine faith, is God-fearing, and loves and treasures her daughter.
Speaking on Bonga Na Jalas, Esther shared her thoughts on the type of man she would like to see her daughter settle down with, saying:
“Because she is well brought up, I pray that she would look at the values the man has. I would want him to be genuine, God fearing, and love and treasure my daughter.”
Esther also addressed the departure of gospel artists to secular music, stating that they were singing for people, not Christ. She emphasized the importance of knowing one's purpose as a gospel musician, saying:
“Being a gospel musician is knowing why you are there. I sometimes take yearlong breaks without singing, but I don’t decamp.”
She further explained that a gospel musician sings for Jesus, not people.
Esther also shared the inspiration behind her timeless hit song, Kuna Dawa, saying it was about hope in Christ and God's word.
She paid tribute to her late father, William Gikonyo, who passed away in July 2019, describing him as her mentor, spiritual cover, and friend.
