Kenyan film 'Mission to Rescue' has been selected for the International Feature Film category at the 94th Academy Awards 2022, announced on October 22, 2021.
The film, produced by Foxton Media Kenya, tells the story of a French woman kidnapped by Al-Shabaab and aims to highlight the effects of radicalization within the community to curb terrorism.
According to Alamin Virani, secretary of the Oscar Selection Committee Kenya (OSCK), the committee received four entries, including 'Mission to Rescue', 'Bangarang', 'Kiapo', and 'Mukami', before selecting the final film.
The nominees for the 94th Academy Awards will be announced on February 8, 2022.
