International Bikini Day: 10 of the most daring swimsuits ¶
July 5, 2019 marks the 72nd birthday of the bikini, which was invented in 1946 by Louis Reard, a Parisian fashion designer. Since its creation, the bikini has undergone many transformations, and this summer is no exception.
As we celebrate International Bikini Day, we take a look at some of the most daring swimsuits that celebrities have been spotted wearing. From see-through bikinis to fishnet and high-waisted designs, these swimsuits are sure to turn heads.
One of the most daring swimsuits of the season is the see-through bikini designed by Adriana Degreas and Cult Gaia. The bikini features a tulle and acrylic design that leaves little to the imagination. The garment has a bar across the middle to cover up the nipples, but it's still a bold choice for anyone who wants to make a statement.
Another daring swimsuit is the fishnet bikini by I Saw It First. The bikini features a fishnet design that makes it rather see-through, and the high-rise bottoms add to the daring style. The swimsuit has been spotted on several celebrities, including Ariana Ajtar, who modeled it on the company's official Instagram page.
High-waisted swimsuits are also making a comeback this summer. Celebrities like Demi Rose, Chloe Ferry, Gabby Allen, and Emily Ratajkowski have been spotted wearing high-waisted bikinis that give them a wedgie. The look is believed to be popular due to the fact that it helps avoid getting unwanted tan lines on the bum.
Other daring swimsuits include the underboob bikini by Oh Polly, which features a cropped t-shirt bikini top with a cut-out underbust detail. The look certainly isn't for the faint-hearted, as it leaves very little to the imagination.
Lastly, there's the Towelkini, a rather unusual garment that combines a towel with a bikini. The Towelkini was designed by Aria McManus in 2014 and went on sale in 2018. It's currently available to buy online in two colors - orange and white, or pink and white.
