On October 21, 2021, a tragic incident occurred at Komothai Girls Secondary School in Kiambu County, resulting in the loss of a 17-year-old student's life.

The student, who was in Form Four, had sneaked out of his school with five others and crept into the girls' dormitory at Komothai Girls Secondary School at around 4 am.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the students had 'tiptoed into Phoeb House for an unknown mission' before being spotted by some girls who immediately raised an alarm, attracting the whole school.

As the school's guards, teachers, and students rushed towards the dormitory, the five boys managed to escape, but the deceased student was cornered by the angry students and staff.

He was attacked and left with life-threatening injuries, which led to his death at Kigoma level IV hospital.

The DCI has warned the public against taking the law into their own hands, stating that suspects should be given the opportunity to face justice in a court of law.

Crime scene detectives later visited the scene and recovered planks of wood suspected to have been used to assault the suspect.
