On October 21, 2021, the High Court issued a stern warning to President Uhuru Kenyatta, giving him 14 days to appoint six judges he had previously rejected.
The court stated that if President Kenyatta fails to make the appointments within the given timeframe, the Judiciary will take necessary steps to swear in the six judges.
The six judges in question are Aggrey Muchelule, George Odunga, Weldon Korir, Joel Ngugi, Mombasa chief magistrate Evans Makori, and High Court deputy registrar Judith Omange.
According to the High Court justices William Musyoka, James Wakiaga, and George Dulu, upon the lapse of the 14 days, it shall be presumed that President Kenyatta's power to make the appointments has expired, and the six nominees shall be deemed duly appointed as judges of superior courts.
